Lab takes on role of companion and lifeline

The Eagle & Badge’s first donation in 2001 was for a specially trained dog for Jake, son of an LAPD Sergeant with moderately severe autism.

With the help of the Eagle & Badge Foundation, Jake was provided with a Labrador retriever named Boo.

Boo is no ordinary dog. He's a specially trained service dog for autistic children. Not only is he Jake's constant companion and buddy, Boo has had the responsibility of helping keep Jake safe, calm and better focused. Boo sleep’s Jake's room and shares a harness with Jake so he doesn't suddenly bolt out into traffic or other dangerous situations. While animals do not always bridge the gap for autistic children, it is a very special thing when they can truly make that all important difference.
