Eagle & Badge Blotter - July 2012
Come out and support officers in need
As summer approaches, the Eagle & Badge Foundation is well underway with plans for fundraising and awareness events. First up will be the Eagle & Badge SummerFest on August 17 from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Elysian Park Academy. This will be a fun, casual night of wine, beer and spirits tasting; gourmet food trucks; a casino tent and live music. Everyone is invited to come out and support the effort to increase awareness about the mission of the E&B Foundation and raise much needed funds to help our brother and sister officers and families in need, as well as the children in the communities we serve. Ticket prices and additional information are listed on the flyer in the July issue of the Thin Blue Line.
Also in the planning stages is the Eagle & Badge Foundation Gala event, which is scheduled for October 6 at the J.W. Marriott Los Angeles L.A. Live. Save the date for this night of glitz and glamour; more information will be forthcoming in the TBL and at www.EagleandBadgeFoundation.org.
Arthur Kassel, left, who visited with the Flores Family at home said, “Mrs. Flores is a very brave woman and we are so pleased we are able to assist her in her rehabilitation and Movement Therapy regimen. The Flexiciser PMTD will undoubtedly enhance her health, well-being and the quality of her life.” (Reprinted with permission from the Tichi Wilkerson Kassel Movement Therapy Magazine.)
Speaking of the assistance the Foundation provides, the Board recently approved contributions to the following local organizations that support Los Angeles children in need.
Eagle Rock Elementary School
The Broome Family Foundation
LAPD Pacific Area Boosters Association
East Valley PAL Supporters
LAPD Centurions Football Team
Operation Progress
LAPD Junior Cadet Program, Hollywood Area
The Devil Pups
Additionally, a donation was recently made by the Tichi Wilkerson Kassel Movement Therapy Foundation, in partnership with the Eagle & Badge Foundation and Flexiciser International, PMTD manufacturer, who donated a Flexiciser PMTD device to Mrs. Jaclyn Flores, wife of LAPD Det. Richard Flores. Mrs. Flores was left paralyzed when she was thrown off a horse in a 2011 horse-riding accident. “We are so grateful to the Flexiciser, the MTF and the L.A. Police Protective League’s Eagle & Badge Foundation. It has helped my wife in her Movement Therapy regiment. She is getting stronger every day,” said Det. Flores.
