Eagle & Badge Blotter - July 2011
Emily Cottle was happy to win the iPad2, but Kaila only seemed to care about the cotton candy!
Ofcr. Carol Davis with her daughter Nicole Kelly. The girls will have lots of fun playing Wii with their Mia, right Carol?!
A very lucky CeMonn Kessee, pictured with her father, retired detective Climmon Kessee, won 2 raffle items.
If you missed the LAPPL annual picnic at Knott’s Berry Farm on June 12, you not only missed a fun day with great food and people, you also missed a chance to win many great raffle prizes while supporting the Eagle & Badge Foundation. The generous support at the picnic raised more than $3,000. These funds go straight to helping officers and their families in catastrophic financial need, or children in the communities LAPD officers serve. A sincere thank you to all who supported the raffle and the foundation, and congratulations to the big winners of the day! See next month’s edition of the Thin Blue Line will feature full coverage of the picnic,
And the winners are:

Our E&B fundraisers, including the annual gala and these simple raffles, allow the foundation to provide financial assistance to help our own in need. Recently the Board approved donations to the following individuals and causes:
- Financial assistance to the brother of an LAPD officer, who is an officer with the Fullerton Police Department. The grant will help the Fullerton officer with the catastrophic medical expenses he is currently facing.
- Financial assistance to an LAPD officer and his family to assist in the burial costs of his sister who was tragically killed in the recent natural disasters in the southeast.
- The LAPD Devonshire PALS organization by sponsoring its 32nd Annual Grand Golf Invitational. The golf tournament, set for Monday, July 11, will help raise funds for this non-profit organization that is dedicated to providing better life opportunities to local area youths. You can learn more about LAPD Devonshire PALS and the work this organization does by visiting www.devonshire-pals.org.
- LA 5 Rotary, a nonprofit organization which focuses on club service, community service and vocational service in the Los Angeles Area and around the world. Learn more at their website www.rotaryclubofla.com.
Speaking of fundraisers, look for additional information soon regarding the annual Eagle & Badge Gala and a “Taste and Try Your Luck” event. We are currently confirming dates and details for both. We will post final details, as they become available, on LAPD.com, on the League’s Facebook and Twitter sites, in NewsWatch, etc.
