Four more organizations received grants from the E&B Foundation,
including the following:
• MEND (Meet Each Need with Dignity, serving 38,000 individuals and families with food, clothing and shelter.
• California Narcotic Officers' Survivors' Memorial Fund, supporting the families of California law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.
• Randall D. Simmons Outreach Foundation, supporting inner city youth
• Camp CAACONAA (Come As a Child or Not At All) at the Church at Rocky Peak, working with fathers and sons (5-12) to better their relationships.
Mar 9, 2009: Memorial Wall at LAPD's 77th Division
The Los Angeles Police Department 77th Street Division Memorial Wall was built to Honor, Respect and Remember the Fallen 77th Division Officers who answered the ultimate call to duty. The waterfall was chosen for it's dynamic; water flowing over stones symbolizing a mighty river and representing life, renewal and strength.
Jan 7, 2009: Eagle & Badge Foundation Plays Santa Claus to the Glory Kids
Almost 1,000 children turned out at the Glory Christian Church for the holiday service and party. Besides his police work, SWAT officer Randal Simmons volunteered on the streets of inner-city neighborhoods where he ministered to children on weekends as part of a church group he founded called Glory Kids Ministries, which steers children away from gangs and toward Christianity.

Randy had a huge heart that was filled with love, faith, hope, commitment, loyalty and trust. He committed his life to things of God and extended his hands to the less fortunate and disadvantaged. He was particularly passionate about helping children in low income neighborhoods.

As it tried to explain a spate of killings over the weekend, the LAPD received some good news Monday - violent crime in the city fell almost 9percent last year, mirroring a national trend, according to figures released by the FBI.

In an effort to get out the message about drivers who intentionally and fraudulently cause accidents on roadways, LAPD and representatives of Allstate Insurance held a demonstration today to show warning signs to would-be victims. Along with the demonstration, LAPD personnel and Allstate Insurance Company representatives provided information on the subject.

Almost two years after the introduction of the Safer Cities Initiative, violent crime continues to fall in Downtown Los Angeles, LAPD Central Division officials said last week. After a double-digit decline last year, violent crime has fallen 4% in the first five months of 2008, according to department statistics.
